The development of resource-efficient and low-carbon synthetic technologies is a central challenge in modern chemistry. Conventional activation of strong C-O, C-N and C-F bonds often relies on forcing conditions and stoichiometric reagents, resulting in substantial energy consumption and chemical waste. Our research focuses on establishing electrochemical organic synthesis as a programmable platform for selective bond activation and molecular construction. Original contributions include electrochemical deoxygenative functionalization of alcohol-derived substrates, C-N bond activation and deaminative cross-coupling of amine-derived compounds, and cobalt-catalyzed defluorinative C-C bond formation. By integrating interfacial electron transfer with radical chemistry, polarity control, transition-metal catalysis, sacrificial-anode strategies and flow processing, this work opens reaction pathways that are difficult to access through conventional thermal chemistry. The resulting methods reduce reagent waste, expand accessible chemical space and provide efficient routes for late-stage diversification and the synthesis of medicinally relevant molecules, offering broadly applicable technologies for greener pharmaceutical production and sustainable fine-chemical manufacturing.
